Pressure relief valve testing includes a functional test of pressure relief valves popping pressure and reseat pressure or blowdown. Since relief valves vent pressure so quickly, it can be difficult to verify the exact relief pressure. That is why we utilize high accuracy test gauges with a “High Peak” function that logs the exact pressure at which the device vents. Devices are typically tested multiple times to ensure accurate repeatability along with leak verification to ensure the valve seat seals at normal operating pressures.
With our new PRV test vessel setup in this video, we can quickly test pressure relief valves for relief pressure and reseat/blowdown pressure. Our test vessel is compliant with NBIC part 4 requirements, PTC 25 and API 576 Annex A. We can test valves up to 6" inlet and 3000 PSI set pressure for relief and blowdown. Valves over 3000 PSI can be tested for relief pressure only.
Along with testing and calibration services, we can also lap and repair valve seats up to 6” diameter and reseal faulty disc type relief valves. Relief valves will have the seat lapped and finished to OEM specs with new disc kit and seals installed.
